What is UPESEAT?

The full form of UPESEAT is the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Engineering Aptitude Test. It is a university-level entrance exam conducted by UPES to offer admission to B.Tech. courses in several disciplines. The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) conducts an online exam every year to offer admission to suitable candidates in its various B.Tech programmes. It is a self-financed, UGC and AICTE-approved university. Admission to UPES is through UPESEAT, JEE Main scorecard, and the board's merit list. 80% of the seats in the university are filled through UPESEAT, and the remaining 20% ​​are filled on the basis of JEE Main scorecard and class 12 results. 

UPES was established in 2003 through the UPES Act, 2003 of the Uttarakhand state legislature. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked UPES 46th in the University category, 42nd in the Engineering category, 41st in the Management category, and 28th in the Law category in the NIRF 2024 rankings.

UPESEAT 2025 Application Form

2. UPES, Dehradun will release the application form through online mode, no offline mode will be provided for form submission.
3. UPESEAT 2025 Application Form will be released in the first week of November 2024.
4. Candidates are advised to check the complete eligibility criteria given below before filling the application form.
5. Fill the details like mail id, postal address, communication details, educational qualification, etc. in the application form.
6. After filling the details, candidates have to upload scanned recent passport size photographs and other documents in the form.
7. While filling the details in the registration form, candidates must be careful.
8. Double-check all the details filled in the form and submit it on the website.
9. Complete the process by depositing the prescribed amount of application fee through the available gateway.
10. Applicants must complete the registration process before the third week of April 2025, as it will be the last date to apply.

How to Apply for UPESEAT 2025

To fill the UPESEAT 2025 application form, candidates can complete the steps given below:

Step-1: Visit the UPES website (link will be provided above).

Step-2: On the homepage, click on the “Apply Now” link.

Step-3: Start the registration process by submitting the basic details.

Step-4: Fill the application form with details like qualification details, communication details, etc.

Step-5: After filling the details, press the “Submit” button and proceed to the next step.

Step-6: Upload the requisite documents like passport size photograph and other documents in the prescribed format.

Step-7: Deposit the application fee using the available payment gateway.

Step-8: Press the “Submit” button.

Step-9: Double-check the details given in the form and submit it.

Step-10: Take a hard copy of the form and keep it safe till the admission process

UPESEAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria

You must make sure that they satisfy UPESEAT eligibility criteria before proceeding to fill out the application form: 

UPESEAT Age Limit

1. Only those candidates will be eligible to apply for admission whose date of birth is 1 October 1999 or later.
2. Only the date of birth registered with the Board of Secondary Education will be considered authentic.

Educational Qualification Requirements

1. For admission through UPESEAT and Board Merit: Minimum 50% aggregate marks in class 12 boards and also 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects. 
2. For admission through JEE Main Merit: Minimum 50% aggregate marks in class 12 boards, 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects and valid JEE Main score.

UPESEAT syllabus 2025

UPESEAT 2025 result will be declared in June 2025. Login details like registration number, roll number and date of birth will be required to download the result. To check the result, candidates have to visit the website of UPES, Dehradun. It will be downloaded through online mode only.

No offline mode will be provided to check the UPESEAT result. The result will contain section-wise and category-wise marks and ranking. Three separate merit lists will be published by the university. A separate merit list will also be released for candidates seeking admission through the UPESEAT exam, JEE Main exam score and board exam score.

UPESEAT Preparation Tips 2025

UPESEAT Admit card 2025

The exam authority will release the UPESEAT 2025 admit card on its official website. Applicants appearing for the exam will be able to download the admit card for UPESEAT 2025 at upes.ac.in. The details required to download the UPESEAT hall ticket are application number and date of birth. Applicants must first complete the UPESEAT slot booking with their preferred exam date, slot, and center. The UPESEAT admit card mentions the candidate's personal details, exam date and time, exam day instructions, and other details. Only successfully registered candidates will be allowed to download their UPESEAT admit cards. Candidates should note that the authority will not send any admit card for UPESEAT 2025 via mail or post.

UPESEAT 2025 Cut-Off

The university will release the UPESEAT 2025 cut-off through online mode. The cut off will be published based on various factors such as marks obtained, difficulty level. This will be the minimum marks that candidates must score in the exam to become eligible for the further counselling process. 

It will be mandatory to obtain the cut off marks to participate in the counselling process. Based on the cut off marks, candidates will be invited to participate in the admission process. The university will prepare the UPESEAT Exam cut off marks based on various factors such as:

1. Total number of candidates appeared in UPESEAT Exam 2025
2. Highest marks obtained by the candidates.
3. Number of seats available.
4. Pass proportion of applicants
5. Difficulty level of entrance exam.

UPESEAT 2025 Counselling

Candidates who qualify for the entrance exam will be eligible to participate in the counselling session. UPESEAT 2025 counselling will be conducted from the first week of August 2025. UPESEAT exam counselling will be centralised counselling based on the merit list of the exam, class 12th boards and JEE Main. Selected candidates will have to report at the centre for further counselling process. 

The UPESEAT exam counselling will have various stages like registration, college preference filling, document verification, seat allotment, fee payment, etc. For the verification process, candidates will have to carry some important documents to the centre. After verification of all the important documents, seats will be allotted to the candidates.

UPESEAT Scholarship

The university offers scholarships to candidates in two different categories, namely All India Category and the Uttarakhand Domicile Special Scholarship. 

1. The details of the scholarship are given below. Candidates in the All India Category must have secured 60% marks in class 10 and 12 and 60% marks in PCM. 50% tuition fee waiver for 10% seats in each program in the first year for candidates who have passed from CBSE, ICSE and State Board. 
2. In the second semester, renewal of the application form will be subject to the candidate scoring SGPA 8/10. Scholarships in the coming years will be as per the scholarship policy of the university. 

Uttarakhand Domicile Special Scholarships Eligibility 

1. For B.Tech, candidates must have secured 60% marks in each of class 10, 12 and PCM. 
2. Candidates must have a permanent residence certificate. Candidates can avail only 1 scholarship at a time (either through Uttarakhand Board merit or through Uttarakhand domicile category). 
3. The seats reserved under this category will be within the 15% reservation for Uttarakhand domicile candidates.

UPSEAT Scholarships 

1. 35% of the tuition fee for female candidates and 25% of the tuition fee for male candidates in the first year.
2. In the second semester, renewal of application form will be done if the candidate scores SGPA 8/10.
3. Scholarships in subsequent years will be given as per the scholarship policy of the University.
4. Class 10th and Class 12th mark sheets and certificates
5. Certificate of date of birth (Class 10th certificate)
6. Demand draft for course fee in favour of "UPES" payable at Dehradun.
7. In case of non-availability of temporary/degree certificates, attach previous year's mark sheet.
8. Work experience certificate from the employer.

UPESEAT 2025 Selection Process

1. Seat allotment for the respective rounds will be announced as per the scheduled timelines. 
2. The seat allotment process will be based on merit order and seat availability in the desired programme. In case of a tie on 10+2 PCM score/percentage for applicants to B.Tech programme, weightage will be given to applicants securing higher marks in Mathematics, followed by Physics and Chemistry (if applicable). 
3. In case of a tie on 10+2 PCB score/percentage for applicants to B.Pharma programme, weightage will be given to applicants securing higher marks in Biology, followed by Physics and Chemistry (if applicable).
