Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to participate in the JKCET 2025 program:

Academic Qualifications:

1. Students who have successfully passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (which are compulsory subjects) are eligible to apply.
2.  Having a minimum of 50% marks for the general category and 40% for reserved categories in the graduation examination is highly recommended.

Age Limit:

1. Candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2025.
2. There is no upper age limit for JKCET 2025.

Domicile Requirement:

1. Only those applicants are eligible to apply who are permanent residents of Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh, only those candidates can apply.

Medical Fitness:

1. Candidates are required to produce a medical fitness certificate as per the requirements of the respective institutes.

Admit Card and Exam Day Guidelines

After completion of the application process, candidates will be able to get their admit cards from the JKBOPEE website.

1. Log in to your account on the JKBOPEE portal.
2. Click on “Download Admit Card”.
3. Print a copy and check the details.

Exam Day Guidelines:

1. An admit card, valid photo ID, and a recent passport-size photograph are all required.
2. Only blue or black ballpoint pens should be used.
3. You must reach the exam center 30 minutes before your reporting time.
4. Calculators, electronic devices, or study materials are not allowed.

Evaluation and Merit List

JKBOPEE has a provisional answer key that is declared after the completion of the JKCET exam. Through this, candidates can appeal if they feel there is a mistake in a question in the answer sheet. After this, the correct answer issues are resolved, and a definitive answer key is created. The evaluation process is the same as that of the final answer key and grades are determined by the official marking scheme of +1 for a correct answer and -0.25 for an incorrect answer.

Following the evaluation, a state-wide merit list is prepared, ranking candidates based on their performance in the exam. In case of tie-in scores, the following tiebreaker criteria are applied in order: candidates with higher marks in Mathematics are ranked higher, followed by those with higher marks in Physics. If the tie persists, the older candidate is given preference in the ranking. This transparent and systematic approach ensures a fair and unbiased selection process.

Counseling Process

1. It is the counselling process that is an essential part of the JKCET selection process and shows the final allotment of seats to the candidates. This step has been brought in to prevent unfairness and fraud and to ensure that the most deserving candidates get the priority they deserve. However, counselling is only a matter of concern for those applicants who are included in the merit list, i.e. those applicants whose marks are too soft to be tolerated in the tough places/universities they wish to get admitted to.
2. The first stage is online registration, in which candidates have to pay the counselling fee and register on the JKBOPEE portal. Once the fee is deposited and registration is complete, candidates will proceed to the choice-filling and locking stage. In this stage, candidates have to select and prioritize their preferred colleges and courses. This is based on their talents, interests, and ambitions.
3. Accordingly, the document verification begins with candidates bringing original copies of documents such as JKCET scorecard, admit card, class 10 and 12 certificates, residence certificate and category certificate (if applicable). The mentioned documents are relevant to the aspect of the eligibility status of the candidate, and the reservation claimed by the candidate is equally important.
4. The next step is seat allocation, where the candidates' rank, preferences and the availability of seats in colleges determine which seats they will be allotted. Finally, candidates must report to their allotted college within the stipulated time to guarantee a clear confirmation of their admission. To do so, candidates will be charged tuition and other fees as well as meet additional requirements. Delay in punctuality may result in the allotted seats being vacated.
