As per UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2024, NTA has changed the age limit for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) on 5th January 2023. Applicants must not be more than 30 years of age to apply for UGC JRF. Candidates who fulfil the eligibility requirements of UGC NET 2024 can fill out the application form. The application form will only be available to those candidates who will fulfil the eligibility criteria of UGC NET 2024. Candidates need to first qualify in the NET JRF criteria, and then in the NET Assistant Professor/lecturer criteria. UGC NET is held twice a year for those aspirant candidates desiring eligibility as JRF and Associate Professor.

One of the most important eligibility criteria for the UGC NET 2024 exam is to choose the appropriate subject while submitting the application form. UGC NET 2024 exam includes Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 or "General applicability in teaching and research" is compulsory for all, but for paper 2 an appropriate topic must be chosen. Candidates applying for a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) must not be more than 30 years of age on the first day of the month, ie. 1st June 2024 when the UGC NET 2024 exam ends ie. in June This age limit applies only to ongoing studies.

Ques. What is the minimum percentage required in Masters to be eligible for UGC NET?
Ans. The minimum percentage required is 55% in your Masters degree examination. However, there's a relaxation of 5% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Transgender categories.
Ques. Can I apply for UGC NET if I'm in the final year of my Masters program?
Ans. Yes, you can apply provisionally. However, your eligibility is confirmed only if you pass your Masters with the required percentage within two years of the NET result.
Ques. I have a Masters's degree in a subject not listed in the UGC NET subjects. Am I eligible?
Ans. Generally, the subject of your Masters should be aligned with the subject you choose for the UGC NET exam. In rare cases, if your subject isn't listed, you can approach the UGC with a recommendation from a specialized university to appear in a related subject.
