UGC NET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

As per UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2024, NTA has changed the age limit for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) on 5th January 2023. Applicants must not be more than 30 years of age to apply for UGC JRF. Candidates who fulfil the eligibility requirements of UGC NET 2024 can fill out the application form. The application form will only be available to those candidates who will fulfil the eligibility criteria of UGC NET 2024. Candidates need to first qualify in the NET JRF criteria, and then in the NET Assistant Professor/lecturer criteria. UGC NET is held twice a year for those aspirant candidates desiring eligibility as JRF and Associate Professor.

UGC NET Eligibility 2024: Educational Qualification

Candidates must have the following educational requirements to apply for the UGC NET exam:

  1. Candidates must have at least 55% marks in their Masters Examinations. Five per cent relaxation is given to candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Other Backward Class (OBC)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Transgenders. Therefore candidates from reserved classes require only 50 percent marks in the master's degree examination.
  2. Candidates must have graduated from a UGC-recognized college/university in relevant fields like Humanities, Social Sciences, Electronics, Computer Science & Applications etc.
  3. Candidates who are appearing in the final year exam or waiting for the results for Master's can also apply online through the UGC NET - exam. However, such candidates are entitled to provisional admission and are considered eligible only if they pass the master's examination with the required percentage. "Such candidates must complete their PG degree within two years from the date of NET result with the required percentage of marks, failing which, they will be considered as failed," the official website said.
  4. Doctors whose master's examinations were conducted on September 19, 1991 (regardless of the date of publication of results), are entitled to receive full relief of five per cent, i.e. only 50 per cent marks are required. of such candidates.

UGC NET Subject Eligibility 2024

One of the most important eligibility criteria for the UGC NET 2024 exam is to choose the appropriate subject while submitting the application form. UGC NET 2024 exam includes Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 or "General applicability in teaching and research" is compulsory for all, but for paper 2 an appropriate topic must be chosen.
