Ponjesly Charity Trust was founded in the year 1991. Shri. Pon. ROBERT SINGH, a young dynamic, able administrator and an industrialist with visionary zeal founded Ponjesly Public Higher Secondary School in the year 1996, Ponjesly College of Engineering in the year 2004, and Ponjesly College of Education in the year 2005, Ponjesly Public School(CBSE) in the year 2019 & Ponjesly Super Speciality Hospital in the year 2022. The main objective of the Trust has been focused on starting Educational Institutions like Schools, Engineering Colleges, Teacher Education Colleges, Medical Colleges, Law Colleges, and Arts and Science Colleges to provide quality education to the entire student community at all levels.

Built up Area of the Lady's Hostel is about 20,000 sq. feet and the Boy's Hostel is about 25,000 sq. feet. Hostel Students are provided to use 24 Hours Internet Facility. The library is kept open for their use. Separate hostels for boys and girls. Regularity, punctuality and discipline have been the watchwords of our hostel life. Recreations include a gymnasium, television, outdoor and indoor sports activities, magazines and internet access.

The Central Library (area: 10000 Sq.ft) has extensive collections of books and is augmented on a continuous basis. The Library subscribes to numerous numbers of popular periodicals, National and International Journals, and CD ROMs are also available. As of now, it has more than 40000 books and journals.

The approximate annual addition is about 2500 volumes. 160 periodicals including 2000 international journals are being subscribed in our Library. It is the most lively place on the campus providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge and promotes discovery and scholarship.

Our Campus is provided with Air Conditioned 2 Seminar Halls, 1 Conference Hall and Auditorium. These halls are fitted with permanent Audio, Video and Projection Systems. External Chief Guests on various latest topics are regularly invited to deliver lectures to our students. Thus our students are exposed to recent Technology/Trends.

Faculty Development Programme is conducted in the Seminar Hall, to update the Knowledge of our Faculty Members. Each Seminar hall has a seating capacity of 350 members. The conference hall can accommodate 80 members.

Departmental activities such as National level events and other college-related events will be conducted at the Auditorium. It has a seating capacity of 2000 members.

Our College is situated closer to the town and can be reached through the privatized mini buses operated on a 20 minutes base right into the college campus from the heart of the town. In addition, the college owns 50 buses and these buses operate along various routes starting from different points all around Kanyakumari district. Our transport facilities with the help of privatized mini buses ensure that our students and staff are able to reach the college on time with utmost ease.

Sports Facilities:

The activity started with an All IndiaTable Tennis Tournament conducted by Ponjesly College of Engineering in the month of May 2010. The participants were from all age groups starting from 8 years for both boys and girls. Even veteran players above 40 years up to the age of 69 years participated in the tournament. This is a National level competition and top-level players participated from Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Trivandrum, Trichur and Ernakulam. There were nearly 250 players participated in this tournament.

A chess tournament was conducted in the month of June 2010. This category was under 15 years of age for both boys and girls. The participants are only from Tamilnadu. This is a state-level competition. This was conducted for 7 days on the campus. The top 4 prize winners were selected to represent the National competitions. There were 300 children who participated.

The Ponjesly College of Engineering students participated in the University Competition held at the National College of Engineering, Kovilpatti. They Won 3rd place in the University Competition beating Sethu Institute of Technology. There were 47 Engineering College participated in this tournament.

The college Basketball Team has won many tournaments at the District level. Presently they are the champion in the district. They are participating in some of the open tournaments also. Recently they participated in an open state-level tournament conducted by PSN College of Engineering, Melethidayoor.

Mr Ajit Kumar 2nd year CSE student and a member of the Kanyakumari District Hockey Team, participated at the Inter District Competition held at Chennai on 18.9.2010. He got selection for the state team and attended a coaching camp.

A State Weight lifting Competition was conducted on the campus in the month of October 2010. Two of our college students also participated in this tournament, Only selected players from each district were allowed to participate.
