The Government Teacher Training College (GCTE) in Kozhikode, formerly known as Government College, was established to train secondary school teachers. The GCTE is one of the oldest institutions in the state government sector and has an excellent history spanning over sixty years. Originally, GCTE operated on government premises. Victoria College Palghat, with its affiliation with Madras University for a reorganized BT course, by June 1957. From 1959 the B degree on offer wasAnd instead of B.T.GCTE has been affiliated with Calicut University since 1968. The college is now under the government control of the Director of College Education of the Government of Kerala and under the direct educational control of the affiliated universities.  The college started to offer the M.Educational program in 2010 r.
