Dr. N.G.P Arts and Science College was established by the Kovai Medical Center Research and Educational Trust Coimbatore in the year 1997. It has emerged as one of the major academies in self-financing institutions in Tamil Nadu, India. The college was conferred autonomous status in 2015-2016 by the UGC and is affiliated with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

The admission to all the UG, PG, Diploma, PG Diploma, and Certificate courses is based on the marks obtained in Qualifying Examination.

The admission to the Research courses is based on the Entrance Exam conducted by the institute, followed by an interview.
