Anna University PG Admission 2024-25

Anna University offers ME, M.Tech, M.Plan, M.Arch, MBA, MCA, and M.Sc degree programs at the PG level. The basic eligibility criteria for PG admission at Anna University is to have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized university/institute. Admissions will be based on an entrance exam, conducted by Anna University on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government. Admission to  ME, M.Tech, M.Plan, and M.Arch programs will be based on the Common Engineering Entrance Test for Admission (CEETA PG). Candidates seeking admission to MBA and MCA programs are required to appear for the TANCET exam. M.Sc admissions will be granted based on a written test conducted by the university.

  1. programs in the various disciplines at the PG level. A BE/ B.Tech degree in the relevant field is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. Diploma holders along with AMIE are also eligible to apply. Admission is based on the TANCET score followed by university-based counseling (TANCA).
  2. For MBA courses, candidates with a valid score in GATE are also eligible to apply. Such candidates are exempted from TANCET.
  3. At the Postgraduate level, Anna University also offers M.Arch, M.Plan, MBA, and MCA (Regular+Lateral). The University offers full-time M.Sc programmes. Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) is the required eligibility for applying. TANCET-qualified candidates have to appear for university-based counseling (TANCA) based on which admission will be ascertained.

Anna University PG Eligibility Criteria

Candidates with BE/ B.Tech in the relevant discipline with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH) from a recognized university OR Diploma with an AMIE degree along with two years of work experience are eligible to apply for the PG program like ME, M.Tech, and M.Sc 

  1. Those who have completed their qualifying degree through distance or weekend mode are not eligible to apply.
  2. Anna University also offers admission under the sponsored category (candidates belonging to Government Aided Institutions/ Government Organizations). Such candidates must have at least five years of work experience in the related field along with a valid score in TANCET.
  3. For M.Arch admission, candidates must qualify for B.Arch in the relevant discipline with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH) from a recognized university. AIIA (Associateship Examination of the Indian Institute of Architects) qualified candidates are also eligible to apply.
  4. For MBA admission, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH) from a recognized university. 
  5. For MCA any Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH) with Mathematics as one of the main subjects at 10+2 or Graduation level from a recognized university is required. For MCA (Lateral Entry) admission, candidates must have a qualified BCA or B.Sc (IT/CS) degree with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH) with Mathematics as one of the main subjects at 10+2 or Graduation level from a recognized university. 
  6. To be eligible for the M.Plan program, candidates must have passed B. Plan/ B. Arch/ B.E. (Civil Engg OR M.A. / M.Sc in Geography/ Economics/ Sociology/ Social Work with Community development specialization and Rural Development with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH) from a recognized university. AIIA (Associateship Examination of the Indian Institute of Architects) qualified candidates are also eligible to apply.

Anna University PG Selection Criteria

  1. For admission to ME, M.Tech, M.Plan, and M.Arch programs, candidates must appear for the Common Engineering Entrance Test for Admission (CEETA PG). 
  2. For ME and MTech admissions, candidates with valid scores in the GATE examination are exempted from CEETA PG.
  3. For MBA and MCA admissions, TANCET scores will be considered.
  4. The final selection to ME, M.Tech, M.Plan, M.Arch, MBA, and MCA programs will be done through a counseling process.
  5. For the M.Sc program the selection process is based on a written test conducted by Anna University followed by an Interview for the shortlisted candidates. M.Sc Entrance Test is a two-hour test with 100 MCQs for 100 marks. I/3 marks are deducted for a wrong attempt.

  1. To apply for ME, M.Tech, M.Plan, M.Arch, MBA, and MCA programs, candidates must visit the official portal – tancet.annauniv.edu.
  2. Click on Registration and then log in using your email ID and password
  3. Select the course under the dropdown menu of “Choice of Examination”
  4. Enter personal, education, and examination details
  5. Upload photo & signature in the prescribed format
  6. Verify all the details and Click to go to the payment screen
  7. Make the payment and keep the printout of your application for any reference in the future 
  8. For admission to the M.Sc program, students can fill out the application form by visiting the official website of Anna University.

Anna University M.Phil., MS by Research & Ph.D. Admission 2024-25

  1. MS by Research & PhD courses are offered under the Centre for Research (CFR) two times a year. M.Phil is offered at PG level in different disciplines.
  2. For admission to the M.Phil program, a Master’s degree in the same or related field of research is required. For admission to the M.Phil. program, candidates’ previous academic records will also be put under review. Candidates with an exceptional academic record will be selected.
  3. Candidates with a Master’s degree or an M.Phil degree in the same or related field are eligible to apply. Selection to the Ph.D. program is based on the performance of candidates in the written test conducted by the University followed by an interview.
  4. Admission to these programs is granted based on candidates’ performance in the entrance test conducted by the University. UGC NET (including JRF)/ UGC CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET qualified and Teacher Fellowship holders are exempted from the Anna University Written Test. Such candidates have to appear in the interview round.

Anna University M.Phil, MS by Research & PhD Eligibility

  1. To be eligible for the M.Phil program, candidates need to pass an MA OR M.Sc degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.

  2. For doctoral courses like PhD and MS by Research admission, candidates must have passed a Master's degree in relevant with a minimum of 55% aggregate. 

Anna University M.Phil, MS by Research & PhD Selection Criteria

The selection process is based on a written test conducted by Anna University followed by an Interview with the shortlisted candidates. If the students have already passed UGC NET (including JRF)/ UGC CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET qualified and Teacher Fellowship then they are exempted from the Anna University Written Test. Such candidates have to appear in the interview round.
