The JEE Main results, age restriction, number of attempts, and class XII exam performance are the basis for the JEE Advanced selection process 2024. The JEE Advanced 2024 is the first step towards admission to several of the best engineering schools in India, including the IITs.

JEE Advanced Selection Procedure 2024

The JEE Advanced selection process is carried out by closely adhering to the guidelines and directives provided by the relevant authorities. A thorough explanation of the same is included below.

1. Performance in JEE Mains

Only those who place in the top 2.5 percentiles will be eligible to take the JEE Advanced. Because students are now scoring parallel to the full mark with 100 percentile marks, the cutoffs are high. Candidates are admitted to all of the best IITs according to their JEE Advanced results. The merit list and cutoff marks for JEE Advanced performance must also be known to candidates.

2. Qualification Criteria/ Age Criteria

There are some additional qualification criteria described in the JEE Advanced selection procedure. The criteria are as follows:

  1. Each applicant must be attempting JEE Advanced in the same year that they qualified for their Class XII exam.
  2. Additionally, they have to achieve a minimum cumulative score on their Class XII exam, which changes every year.
  3. Candidates need to fulfil the age requirements specified by the organisation that conducts the exam in addition to the basic qualification requirements. Applicants must have been born on October 1, 1998, or later. Candidates from reserved categories are eligible for an age relaxation of five years.

3. Application Process for JEE Advanced

The next step for eligible candidates is to register and complete their application online at JEE Advanced's official website. The following are the steps to complete the JEE Advanced application form:

  1. Candidates need to go to the JEE Advanced official website.
  2. Find and click the link to the JEE Advanced 2024 application form.
  3. They will then need to register themselves, after which they will receive an email with their login information.
  4. They need to complete the application form after receiving the login credentials.
  5. They also need to provide correct personal data, including name, birthdate, address, phone number, email address, and details about their educational background.
  6. After that, they have to pay the application fee online, by bank challan, or with a demand draft.
  7. After completing all the steps, they need to submit the form and print a copy.

4. Exam Pattern of JEE Advanced

There are two required papers in the JEE Advanced Exam Pattern: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Every wrong answer will result in a zero on each paper, which will be completed in three hours.

5. Cutoff Marks for JEE Advanced

The cutoff mark is the minimal score required for applicants to be considered for admission to elite universities and IITs. The cutoff points differ between colleges. To be eligible for admission, candidates who took the JEE Advanced exam had to achieve a score that either matched or surpassed the cutoff point for the specific institute or stream they chose.

6. Publication of JEE Advanced Merit List

The organisation that conducts the exam creates a merit list after it is finished. The marks that each candidate receives are taken into account when creating the merit list, along with other pertinent factors like cutoff scores and reservation guidelines. Applicants may be admitted if they have successfully obtained a spot on the merit list.
